As teenager, Tear joined the Order of Lorelei to become an Oracle Knight. Under the guidance of her instructor, Legretta the Quick, Tear became a Locrian Sergeant.

The Oracle Knights are peacekeepers that strictly follow the Score. Even if the Score requires the Knights to do terrible things, under Grand Maestro Mohs' command, the Knights follow through. Keeping to the Score is their number one priority, which Tear later regrets, but takes responsibility for:

Tear: All of us in the Oracle Knights are equally at fault.

To fulfill the Score, Grand Maestro Mohs commands the Oracle Knights to start war between the kingdoms of Kimlasca and Malkuth. At first, Tear stubbornly refuses to accept that the Grand Maestro is responsible: she's known him as a kind-hearted man who's faithful to the Score and its teachings. Instead, she blames her brother. But Mohs' faithfulness to the Score is his downfall, and as the Score predicts a war will lead to prosperity, he uses the Oracle Knights to fulfil that objective.

The Oracle Knights are divided into several groups. The Fon Master Guardians, for instance, are a small group responsible for looking after the Fon Master at all times. The Six God-Generals are also part of the Oracle Knights and take orders from Tear's brother, Van. Tear belongs to the Intelligence Division in the 1st platoon, which is directly governed by Grand Maestro Mohs. Under his command, the Intelligence Division's main role is to acquire information and develop a knowledge base. Tear is given the task of finding the location of the Seventh Fonstone, which gives her the opportunity to come to the Outer Lands after her brother.

The Oracle Headquarters are located in Daath, and the vast majority of the troops reside there, including Oracle Knights-in-training.
